James Padget
James Clark "Jim" Padget, 70, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020 at his home in Saluda, SC.
Born August 10, 1949, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Edith and the late Ben Padget, he was the oldest of their sons (Jim, Gene, Joe, Rick and Geri). A graduate of Saluda High School (1968) and Piedmont Technical College (1979), he received a degree in Machine Tool Technology. He spent nine years enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he was stationed on the U.S.S. Kittyhawk as an Adjz Jet Mechanic during Vietnam. He was also self employed as the owner and operator of Shade Tree Handyman Services.
He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church where he was baptized in 1965 and served as a deacon and treasurer. He adored the game of golf and was a longtime member of Persimmon Hill.
Surviving are his wife, Elma Jean Padget, his mother, Edith Padget, six children, Gigi Winstead, Corbitt "Buddy" Kidd, William "Billy" Kidd, Tamela Terrell, Robin Kidd and Charles "Chuck" Padget, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Red Bank Baptist Church. Due to COVID-19 concerns, there will be a limited amount of seating in the sanctuary. The family requests that everyone wear a mask to protect those in attendance.
