James Pinson

James Larry Pinson, 75, passed away Friday, September 8, 2023, at Lexington Medical Center surrounded by his wife and loved ones.

Born in Greenwood County and a son of the late Earl Ray and Irene Wells Pinson, he was the husband of Betty Jo Pinson. Larry was strong in his faith and a true believer of his Lord Jesus. He worked and retired from Monsanto in Greenwood. Known by many as "Sugar Bear", Larry loved his family, friends, and his church family.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Jo Pinson, two sons, Jimmy Pinson of Greenwood, Tony Vereen of Saluda, three daughters, Lynn Weathers of Saluda, Pam Shaw (Thomas) of Saluda, and Angie Duran (Aaron) of Hodges, a brother, Freddie Pinson (Mary) of Piedmont, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Pinson was preceded in death by a brother, Carlisle Ray "Penny" Pinson and a sister, Kathy Bouldin.

A Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Celebration Church with Rev. Hubie Tharp, Rev. Jerry Brunson and Rev. Joseph Hallman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
