Jane Farris Bush McCarty, 89, formerly of Saluda, SC, went to be with her Lord on October 10, 2021.

Farris was born December 8, 1931 in Ridge Spring, SC, the only child of Annie Lee Skinner Bush and Roy Rutland Bush. She was a graduate of Ridge Spring High School and after graduating from Lander College in 1954 she began her lengthy teaching career. She taught at Bush River High School, Hollywood Elementary School, Saluda High School, and Summerville Junior High School. When her husband Major accepted the job as principal of Irmo High School, she taught at Irmo Middle School and Dutch Fork Elementary until they retired and moved to Saluda, SC in 1987.She enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching Braves baseball and spending time with her family. As an active member of Red Bank Baptist Church she served as a Sunday School teacher and WMU Director. She and Major also made several mission trips to Romania.

Farris is survived by her son Van McCarty (Susan) of Prosperity, SC, daughter Jane McCarty Montei (Mike) of Summerville, SC, and son in law Tom O'Brien (Carolyn) of Summerville, SC. Mimi was the proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren-Matthew McCarty, (Morgan), Micah McCarty (Olivia), Mackenzie McCarty (Kasey), Madelynn McCarty, Major McCarty, Allison Montei Lotz (Matt), Sarah Montei, and Daniel O'Brien as well as 6 great-grandchildren-Emma Grace Lotz, Harrison Lotz, Paisley McCarty, Collins McCarty, Josie McCarty, and Freya McCarty. Farris was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Major Van McCarty and her daughter Marcia McCarty O'Brien.

A graveside service will be held at 1PM on October 13, 2021 at Ridge Spring Cemetery. The Reverend Gary Romines will preside. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church, 309 E. Church Street, Saluda, SC 29138.
