Janie Patricia Cockrell Perry

Janie Patricia Cockrell Perry, 78, passed away suddenly Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Long's Residential Care Center in Saluda.

Born on October 10, 1946, in Greenwood, SC and a daughter of the late, James Henry Cockrell and Janie Elizabeth Maffett Cockrell, she was the wife of the late Thomas Oscar Perry for over 50 years. She was a graduate of Saluda High School. Mrs. Perry began her pharmacy career at Parkman's Pharmacy, and when that business closed, she continued her calling at CVS in Saluda for over 25 years till she retired. Her welcoming presence and unwavering kindness brightened the day of every person she was in contact with. Mrs. Perry was never seen without a warm greeting and a genuine smile, always ready to help. She was a member of Emanuel Church.

She had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found tending to her yard and garden. Whether planting flowers in spring or raking leaves in the fall, the yard was her sanctuary. She also cherished time spent in nature, especially camping trips, creating memories that will be treasured by those who shared in them. And when she wasn't outside, Mrs. Perry could often be found enjoying one of her favorite pastimes—shopping. She had an eye for a good find and a great time. After her first grandchild she was known as Nanu by lots of children.

Surviving are three children, John Oscar Perry (Pam) and Rose Mary Rogers, both of Saluda and Virgie Langford (Skip) of Batesburg, a brother, Thomas Cockrell (Marie) of Greenwood and six grandchildren, Stephen Rogers, Jr., Sam Perry, Ashley Langford, Brandi Hallman, Joshua Rogers and Brian Langford, sixteen great-grandchildren, a special friend, Earl Berry, a "sister" friend, Brenda Tucker, an aunt, Uschi Maffett, a niece, Charlsey Williams, three nephews, Justin Cockrell (Nikki Foster), Dusty Cockrell (Courtney), and Patrick Cockrell (Kendall Davis), several great nephews, and numerous cousins and friends.

Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Scott Rogers and a son-in-law, Stephen "Rusty" Rogers.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Emmanuel Church with Rev. Burton Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Angel's Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Emmanual Church, P.O. Box 594, Saluda, SC 29138 or Long's Residential Care Home, 1280 Denny Hwy, Saluda, SC 29138.
