Jefferson Roosevelt "J.R." Clamp

Jefferson Roosevelt "J.R." Clamp, 89, died Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Saluda Nursing Center.

Born in Lexington County and the son of the late John Jefferson and Lillie Gertrude Oswald Clamp, he was the husband of Mary Elizabeth Porter Clamp. J.R. was an active member of Emory United Methodist Church, Emory School and the Saluda County Cattleman's Association. He was retired from Milliken of Saluda, SC and was a cattle farmer for over 35 years.

Surviving are his wife Mary Elizabeth Porter Clamp of Saluda, one son, Henry Clamp (Becky) of Saluda, three brothers, Homer, Hoyt and Truman Clamp, all of Batesburg, one sister, Irene Aull of Lexington, three grandsons, Jason Clamp (Suzie) of Lexington, Justin Clamp (Kimberly) of Saluda and Jeremy Clamp of Saluda, and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Aiden and Ashlyn Clamp.

Mr. Clamp is preceded in death by seven brothers, Herman, Belton, Edward, James, Charles, Alphonso and Carol Clamp, two sisters, McCella Oswald and Zula Kaminer and a great-grandchild, Aubrey Elizabeth Clamp.

A graveside service will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ken Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
