Jeri Grice Porter
Jeri Grice Porter, 70, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Saluda Nursing Center surrounded by her family.
Born in Lexington County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Frontice Grice and Sally Ann Havird Grice. She was a woman who found happiness in the things she loved most; faith, family, music, and the simple pleasures that brought a smile to her face. Mrs. Porter was a member of Gassaway Church, where her faith was an important part of her life.
She enjoyed working on secret word puzzles, taking on the challenge of finding each hidden word. Mrs. Porter also loved ceramics, expressing her creativity through the art of shaping and creating beautiful pieces with her hands. A favorite pastime of hers was getting to watch some of her favorite movies on the Hallmark channel. Music was another special part of her life. She loved both playing and listening to gospel music, finding comfort and joy in its messages of faith.
Above all, Mrs. Porter treasured her family. Her grandchildren were especially dear to her heart, and she absolutely adored them. The time she spent with them was among her greatest joys, and she took pride in watching them grow.
Surviving are two sons, Matthew Adam Porter (Jolene) and Patrick Jerod Porter (Gina) both of Saluda, a daughter, Heather Denise Porter of Anderson, two brothers, Doug Grice and Wayne Grice both of Saluda, a sister Cathy Grice Horne of Chappells, and three grandchildren, Noah Porter, Jacob Porter, and Graycen Baker.
Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by two sisters, Brenda Grice and Beverly Grice.
A graveside memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at West Travis Park Cemetery with Rev. Jeff McCartney officiating.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bill Sawyer and the staff at Saluda Nursing Center for their compassionate care they showed Mrs. Porter.
