Joe Thad Coleman, Sr., 73, died Friday, October 28, 2016 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born in Saluda County and a son of the late George William and Dorothy Duffie Coleman, he was the husband of the late Shelby Steadman Coleman. Mr. Coleman was a graduate of Hollywood High School and Spartanburg Methodist College, where he played baseball and basketball. He worked in the family business , George Coleman Well Drilling and ran Thad Coleman Pump Service. He was a hunter, golfer and sports fanatic. He loved being around family and friends.

Surviving are a daughter, Twjania Coleman Harmon (Chuck) of Saluda, two sons, Joe Thad Coleman, Jr. (Crystal Canady) and Kevin William Coleman (Monica) both of Saluda, a committed friend, Joyce Bright of Saluda, a brother, William O. Coleman of Hopkins, a sister, Hannah C. Hallman of Saluda and twelve grandchildren, Chrissie Smith (Charles), Devin Joy, Taylor Harmon, Austin Coleman, Bailey Coleman, Blair Harmon, Thad Coleman, Hunter Coleman, Colton Canady, Tee Canady, Karra Canady and Autumn Canady.

Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by a brother, Ted L. Coleman, Sr.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Sunday evening at Ramey Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2016 at Butler United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Cothran officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
