John Wayne Bennett, Sr., 74, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Wesley Commons in Greenwood.

Born in Greenwood County, he was the son of the late Bryce "Fireball" and Bessie Dill Bennett. Mr. Bennett worked in textiles for many years and was the retired owner of Bennett's Cleaning Service. He was a member of Bethlehem Union Baptist Church in Waterloo.

Surviving are sons, John W. Bennett, Jr. (Susan) of Saluda, Russell Bennett of McCormick, Steve Bennett, Allen Bennett and Johnny Leopard all of Greenwood; daughters, Connie Bennett and Kathy Bennett both of Saluda and Roxanne Sears (David) of Greenwood; brothers, Horace Bennett of Ninety Six and Kenneth Bennett of Greenwood and a sister, Clara Cromer (Bill) of Ninety Six.

The funeral will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Hopewell Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Bobby Davis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church social hall.
