Saluda, SC

John P. Cantley, 88, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at his residence.

Born in North Charleston, SC he was the son of the late John C. and Exie Meyers Cantley, loving husband of 64 years to Catherine D. Cantley and devoted uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Cantley served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and then returned to North Charleston where he spent the remainder of his working years as a brick mason with Cantley and Green Masonry. He was an avid fisherman, sports fan and loved the Clemson Tigers.

Surviving are his sister-in-law, Ethelwyn M. Cantley, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Sharing a special bond through the years with his niece Kate and husband Greg Bailey along with their children Claire and Mitchell (Misa) Bailey.

Mr. Cantley was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, three brothers, W. Thomas (Frances) Cantley, R.B. Cantley, Kermit (Geneva) Cantley and two sisters, Nina E. (Colman) Jacques, Myrtle L. (Billy) Sercey and great-niece Claire Bailey.

The family would like to extend a special thanks and appreciation for the loving care provided by devoted caregiver and friend, Donna Berry. They would also like to extend their sincere appreciation for the exceptional care provided by Brooke, Michelle, Carol, Jacque, and Jacob from Compassionate Care Hospice.

Graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Salem Baptist Church cemetery with Chaplain Carol Rinehart officiating.
