John Evans

John Evans, 83, died Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Saluda Nursing Center.

Born in Saluda County and a son of the late Earl Evans and Rosa Lee Rowe Evans, he was the husband of Patsy Geraldine Berry Evans. Mr. Evans was retired from the South Carolina National Guard, 122nd Engineer Company in Saluda and was a retired truck driver with Carter Trucking. He was alumni of Emory School and was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Patsy Geraldine Berry Evans, three sons, Harvey Evans of Batesburg, Daryl Evans (Melissa) of Aiken and Scott Evans (Maria) of Saluda, a daughter, Dale Evans of Batesburg, a sister, Rachel Lindler of Leesville, six grandchildren, Mark, James, Luke, Olvia, Johnette and Brandon Evans and his fur babies, Jake and Wilbur.

Mr. Evans was preceded in death by a son, John Earl Evans, four brothers, Wilbur Evans, George Evans, Henry Evans and Charlie Evans and five sisters, Mary Alice Storey, Vera Mae Storey, Daisy Gregory, Katie Duncan and Ora Belle Evans.

The family would like to thank Dr. William C. Sawyer and the Saluda Nursing Center Staff for taking care of our dad.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Rodger Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30 PM in the church social hall.
