John (Tommy) Marsh, Jr.
John Thomas "Tommy" Marsh II, age 91, entered into the presence of his Lord on June 15, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and a life well lived.
Born on January 31, 1935, in Georgetown, South Carolina, Tommy was the beloved son of Eunice Marsh and John Thomas Marsh Sr. He was raised alongside his sisters, Joyce Harelson and Dorothy Long, with the values that would define the rest of his life: faithfulness, integrity, loyalty, and a steadfast work ethic. As a young man, he moved to Augusta, Georgia, where he began a career with International Paper. Through diligence and determination, he devoted forty-three years of service to the company before retiring.
Tommy was first married to Margaret Watts, and together they shared twenty-one years of marriage and raised four children: John Thomas "Jay" Marsh III, Cal Marsh, Tammy Marsh, and Stacy Wynn. Tammy passed away in childhood, and Cal preceded his father in death in August 2025.
Following retirement, Tommy made Saluda, South Carolina, his home. He shared many happy years there with his wife, Carol Marsh, until her passing in 2004. In later years, God blessed him with another season of companionship and love through his marriage to Marguerite Marsh. Together they enjoyed a wonderful chapter of life until her passing in October 2025.
Above all else, Tommy loved his family.
He is survived by his son, Jay Marsh and his wife, Linda Marsh; his daughter, Stacy Wynn and her husband Paul Wynn; and his daughter-in-law, Trish Marsh, wife of his late son, Cal Marsh.
He leaves behind his grandchildren: Tommy Marsh and his wife, Krista Marsh; Timothy James Human and his wife, Romilia Human; and Patricia Miranda Salgado and her husband, John Salgado. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren whom he dearly loved: John Thomas "Thomas" Marsh V and Emma Grace Human.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice Marsh and John Thomas Marsh Sr.; his sisters, Joyce Harelson and Dorothy Long; his daughter, Tammy Marsh, who passed away in childhood and his son, Cal Marsh.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Celebration Church with Rev. Joseph Hallman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Celebration Church, 1765 Batesburg Highway, Batesburg, SC 29006.
