Raymond Miller
Raymond Miller, 85 passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Saluda Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on February 26, 1939, in Saluda County, and was a son of the late Clarence Wilbur Miller and Georgia Lucille Black Miller, he was the husband of the late Betty Jean Rodgers Miller. Mr. Miller served in the SC National Guard 122 ENG Company (CSE) of Saluda. He retired from the South Carolina Department of Education Transportation. After retirement he worked for Amick Farms and was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.
Mr. Miller was a hardworking cattle farmer, who took great pride in maintaining the fields and grass cutting. In addition to farming, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a kind and generous soul, always willing to lend a hand or share a story. Mr. Miller found joy in the company of family, friends, and neighbors and always had a smile. He was known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and love for those around him.
He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Polyak (Luke) of Batesburg, sons, Steven Miller of Ward and Russell Miller (Candice) of Batesburg; a sister, Nelda M. Rikard (PC) of Leesville; grandchildren, Cody Polyak (Lindsey), Katie Miller, Texanna Miller Downey (Ryley), and Quinten Miller; and great-grandchildren, Laiton Polyak, Owen Polyak, Asher Patrick, and Brooklyn Downey.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by twin grandsons, Zachary and Jeremy Polyak; two brothers, Rayford Lee Miller and Ollie "Noot" Theron Miller, and a sister, Vanoy M. Clark.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Furman Matthews Cemetery with Rev. Burton Campbell and Dennis Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends at Ramey Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m., prior to the service.
The pallbearers are David Miller, Quinten Miller, Rayford Miller, Jr., Cody Polyak, Greg Rikard, and Jeff Rikard.
