Joseph Riley Havird, 78, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Saluda County and a son of the late John Boston and Ruby Riley Havird, he was the husband of Dixie Elaine Nicholson Havird. Mr. Havird was a master carpenter and gunsmith. He was a mason and a member of Salem Baptist Church..

Surviving are his wife, Dixie Elaine Nicholson Havird, a daughter, Tanya Lisa (Dean) Jackson of Knoxville, TN, two sons, William Anthony Havird of the home and Joseph Kevin Havird of Ninety Six and a grandson, Meredith Havird.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday evening at Ramey Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Gillion, Rev. William Hightower and Rev. Jerrod Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
