The funeral service for Josie Rinehart Black, 89, widow of the late Joe Henry Black, will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Corinth Lutheran Church with Pastor Pam Turfa officiating, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Please follow COVID-19 guidelines by wearing a mask and practicing social distancing.
Josie was born June 1, 1931 in Saluda, SC, to Joe Daniel and Eugenia Mims Rinehart. She passed away peacefully at home, Monday, January 25, 2021. She attended Hollywood School, graduated from Saluda High School, and attended Winthrop College. Upon returning home to the Hollywood community, she married Joe Henry Black. She worked as Hollywood School Secretary until her retirement.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her loving motherly influence was always positive and supportive. A person of strong faith, she was active in her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Henry Black, and her brother, Talton Rinehart.
Surviving are her children, Elaine Able (Sidney) of Hartsville, Adeline Shull (Danny) of Lexington, Henry Black of Saluda, and Wayne Black (Donna) of Saluda, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ellie Mims Long and Tranny Robinson, and a sister-in-law, Emma Rinehart.
