Karen Smith

Karen Denise Whitmer Smith, 61, passed away on February 27, 2024, at her home.

Born in Augusta, Georgia, and the daughter of Gail A. "Whit" Whitmer and Barbara Ann Owdom Whitmer, she was the wife of Stephen "Steve" Lynn Smith. Karen was a graduate of Lander University, then went on to receive her Master's Degree at Clemson University. She was a former math teacher at Ridge Spring Monetta Middle School and helped at Cone's Meat Market. She was a member of Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving alongside both her parents and husband are, two sons, Tom Dorn (Jessica) and Ben Dorn (Martha) both of Saluda, two daughters, Amber Smith Amick (Jason) of Batesburg and Kaci Smith (Justin), two brothers, Billy Whitmer of Edgefield and Matthew Whitmer of Mt. Pleasant, SC, a sister, Lynn Whitmer Guarino of Concord, NC, and five grandchildren, Madyson Amick, Emma Dorn, Katie Smith, Luke Dorn, and Oliver Smith.

A memorial service will be held at Little Steven's Creek Baptist in Edgefield on Saturday, March 2nd at 2:00 PM.
