Kenneth "Rusty" Yarbrough

Kenneth Russell Yarbrough Jr. "Rusty", 60, of Saluda, SC, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 30, 2022.

Born June 7, 1962 in Prosperity, SC, he was the son of the late Kenneth Yarbrough and
Johnette Yarbrough Harmon. In 1980, he graduated from Saluda High School and then from Lander University, going on to become a Unit director at Whiten Center, then to a Director of Emerald Center. He finished his work career as the Saluda County Recreation Director. He was a member of Butler United Methodist Church.

Rusty was an avid golfer and the biggest supporter of Saluda athletics. He had a special place in his heart for individuals with disabilities. Rusty never met a stranger and knew someone everywhere he went. He rooted BIG for the Clemson Tigers.

Back in 2013, Rusty survived a massive stroke. After extensive Physical and Occupational Therapy, he learned how to walk again and perform daily activities. He worked so hard on regaining physical ability to have a good quality of life. In January 2018, Rusty was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in which he was given a 35% chance to live. Again, he defeated all odds and was in remission since the end of 2018. Rusty did anything and everything to keep fighting for his wife and children. Unfortunately, his health began declining in 2022. His wife, Pam, is an angel on this earth, and has been a full-time caregiver for Rusty.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Pamela Yarbrough, his daughter Andrea Higgins (Cody) of Clearwater, FL, his son Caleb Yarbrough (Carli) of Greenville, SC; one sister Lisa Yarbrough of Saluda SC, Father In-Law (DV Lewis), and Mother In- Law (Nancy Lewis) of Great Falls, SC.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Butler United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Huggins officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Butler Fellowship Hall. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Butler United Methodist Church, c/o Karen Ringer, 178 Andrew Coleman Road, Saluda, SC 29138.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his Primary Care Physician, Dr. Bill Sawyer, his Oncologists, Dr. Clint Wood and Dr. Ruling Yuan, his Home Health Nurse, Monica Burnett, and Agape Care of Greenwood, SC
