Kim "Doc" Dawkins, 67, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 1, 2019. He graduated in 1970 from Saluda High School and immediately joined the U.S. Navy. He was a Vietnam veteran of 10 years. He was the son of Ruby Kunkle Dawkins and the late Bill Dawkins.
He is survived by his mother, Ruby Kunkle Dawkins, his wife of 45 years, Vicky Dawkins, a son, Chucky Green of Memphis, TN, a daughter, and son in-law, Deanna and Kenny Dorn of Saluda, two brothers, Gordon Dawkins (Joyce) and Doug Dawkins of Saluda, a sister, Gwen Peterson of Saluda, four grandchildren, Misty Holsomback (Adam), Kody Dorn (Marianna), Kimbrelle Dorn and Chase Green and four great grandchildren, Adalynn and Reagan Holsomback, Kassadee Dorn and Jaxen Green. A very special sister in-law, Sherry Berretta of Memphis, TN, numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved pup, Buddy.
Mr. Dawkins was predeceased by his father, Bill Dawkins, a son, Johnny Dale Green and a special niece, Brandy Reyes.
A graveside memorial service with military funeral honors will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Red Bank Baptist Church Cemetery with Freddie Bartley officiating.
