Lamar Beauford "Podge" Berry, 88, died Friday, October 12, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Saluda County, he was one of the five children to the late Curtis George and Vara Whittle Berry and he was the husband of Mary Hastings Cobbler Berry. Mr. Berry was a member of Richland Springs Baptist Church where he lead the RA's and was a devoted Sunday School teacher and was a former Deacon. He was a member of the Richland Creek Ruritan Club and the Antique Power Association. He was a retired Construction superintendent and enjoyed farming.

Surviving are his wife Mary Hastings Cobbler Berry, a daughter, Dora Lynn Smith (Wayne) of Ninety Six, two sons, Tommy Joe Berry (Susan) and Luther Curtis Berry (Deborah) both of Saluda, a brother, Earl Berry of Saluda and a sister, Mary Black of Greenwood, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his first wife, Dora Christine Cromer Berry , his second wife, Helen Harmon Berry and a daughter, Shirley Anne Berry Rodgers

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m., Monday, October 15, 2018 at Richland Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Jones and Rev. Derrick Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Saluda Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
