Legar Bedenbaugh
Mr. Legar Owens Bedenbaugh, 94, passed peacefully in his sleep Friday, September 27, 2024, surrounded by loving family and friends at Saluda Nursing Center.
Mr. Legar, known by many as "The Candy Man" because he always had candy in his pockets to give to anyone. He was a retired textile worker with Burlington Industries in Batesburg, and he retired with 25 years of service with the South Carolina National Guard 122 ENG Company of Saluda. He was a member of Nazareth Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Betty Jean Kirkland Bedenbaugh; son, Mike Bedenbaugh (Cynthia) of Clover, SC; grandson, Robert Hance Griffin; two great-grandchildren, Micaela Griffin and Jaxon Griffin; and a sister, Margaret Shealy of Batesburg.
Mr. Legar was preceded in death by his parents, Owens and Uneida Bedenbaugh; two brothers, Osborne and Harold Bedenbaugh; and two sisters, Loreita Shealy and Vanessa Attardo.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 3 PM at Nazareth Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
