Levan Padgett

Levan Padgett, 84, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Saluda Nursing Center.

Born in Saluda, SC and a son of the late William Seward and Jessie Perrine Patterson Padgett, he was the husband of Evelyn Snelgrove Padgett. Mr. Padgett served in the South Carolina National Guard, 122nd Engineer Company in Saluda as Private First Class and was retired from Gentry Poultry. An active member of Sardis Baptist Church, he served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years, Deacon, was on numerous committees, was part of the Shut-In Ministry and spoke on Layman's Sunday.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 60 years, Evelyn Snelgrove Padgett, two daughters, Elaine Crawford (Jimmy) and Rhonda Herlong (Glenn), five grandchildren, Jessica Trotter (Michael) Kristen Dowtin (Johnny), Carrie Herlong, Daniel Herlong and Macy Crawford, two great-grandchildren, Harley Trotter and Hunter Trotter, one niece, Cindy Lugo (Mario), and two great-nephews, Russ Padgett (Britton) and Brandon Padgett (Haley).

Mr. Padgett was preceded in death by a brother, William Bozier Padgett and a special nephew, Russell Padgett.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to everyone who was so willing to offer their help during some extremely difficult times this year. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Brandon and Haley who came every time they were called and others who were willing to help and to Saluda Emergency EMS, Saluda Nursing Home and Dr. Bill Sawyer. A sincere thank you to everyone at Sardis for all the love and concern through the many cards, phone calls, food, your words of love, kindness, encouraging words and your prayers offered on behalf for our family. We pray God's Blessing on each one of you.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Bell and Rev. Dennis Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following interment.
