Also surviving her are her sisters Barbara Tinman of Bettendorf, OH and Betty Shull of Lexington, SC.
She is predeceased by her husband Earl Boatwright, parents John and Ester Burkett, and sister Mageline Hutto.
Lois, a native of Lexington, graduated from Lexington High School and went onto graduate from the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. An army wife she worked in hospitals throughout the south and in Germany where we were stationed for several years. She loved nursing and helping people and touched lives in a very special way. Upon retiring she became the President of the Saluda County Mental Health Association where she served for 12 years helping those she cared so much for. The South Carolina Mental Health Association awarded her the Lois Boatwright Award for Outstanding Service in 1996 for her efforts.
Like her husband Lois donated her body to the Medical College of Georgia so there will be no immediate funeral service. As she so wished we are planning a party to celebrate her life and to remember her living not her dying. Invitations will be sent to family and friends for the party.
