Lou Ellen Gunter

Lou Ellen Barnett Gunter, 85, died Friday, January 27, 2023 at Prisma Health Richland.

Born in Sumter, SC and a daughter of the late Iler Devere Barnett and Julia Mae Burnett Barnett, she was the wife of Roy Gunter. Mrs. Gunter was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant from Saluda Nursing Center and was a member of Faith Temple Holiness Church.

Surviving are her husband, Roy Gunter, two daughters, Cathy Land (Everette) of Greenwood and Sharon Gentry (Kenny) of Ward, a son, Billy Templeton, Jr. (Brenda) of Clearwater, FL, a sister, Judy Mae Mills of Piedmont, six grandchildren, Kimberly Timms (Rick), Ashley Doerflein (Keith), Kenny Gentry, Jr. (Amy), Justin Gentry, Hannah Storay (Allen) and Sierra Templeton and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Gunter was preceded in death by a son, Daryle Glenn Butler, a sister, Martha Ann Sweat, a brother, Robert Earl Wingington and a granddaughter, Skylar Nicole Templeton.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Jay Waites of Peachtree Medical and Ryan and Michelle Kelley and boys.

Funeral Services will be held 3 p.m., Monday, January 30, 2023 at Faith Temple Holiness Church with Rev. CB Turner and Pastor Andrew Shumpert officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the social hall. At other times the family will be at the home of the daughter, Sharon Gentry.
