Lucy Ackerman Higgins, 74, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Lexington Medical Center.

Born in Greenwood, SC, and the daughter of the late Louis Murray Ackerman, Sr. and Minnie Ruth Powell Ackerman, she was the wife of John P. Higgins, Jr. She was a program analyst with the US Department of Education.

Surviving are her husband, John P. Higgins, Jr., a daughter, Ruth Southern (Ron) of Biloxi, MS, three brothers, Louis Ackerman, Jr. (Ann) of Beaufort, SC, Donald Ackerman (Frances) of West Columbia, and Tommy Ackerman (Linda) of Pendleton, two sisters, Phyllis Adams (George) of Myrtle Beach and Lillie Ackerman of Saluda, three sisters-in-law, Jane A. Higgins of Florence, MA, Patricia Leritz-Higgins of Tigard, OR, and Kathleen Higgins (Roland Stumpff) of Troy, ME, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Lucy Ackerman Higgins will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Tin Roof Farm (748 Fruit Hill Road, Saluda, SC) with grandson Pastor Levi Logan officiating. A reception will follow the service.
