Lynn Matthews

Lynn Oswald Matthews, 71, passed away on September 16, 2026, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood.

Born in Newberry, and the son of the late Moses Landrum Matthews and Ona Lavern Oswald Matthews, he was the husband of Nancy Elizabeth McCarty Matthews. He graduated from Aiken Technical College and worked as an electrician with MC Electric, where he dedicated many years to his career.

Outside of work, Mr. Matthews enjoyed spending time doing the things he loved most. He was a member of the Saddle Clubs and especially enjoyed riding horses. He also found satisfaction in working around the yard and staying busy. Music was an important part of his life, and he enjoyed attending concerts whenever he had the opportunity. Mr. Matthews cherished time spent with his friends, whether shooting pool, sharing a good laugh, or simply enjoying each other's company. He was also known for his love of grilling and enjoyed preparing good food for family and friends.

Mr. Matthews will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of the outdoors and horses, his appreciation for music and good times, and the many memories he made with those who knew and loved him.

Surviving alongside his wife are a son, Kyle Matthews of Ridge Spring; a daughter, Alisha Matthews of Aiken; a step-son, F.H. Anderson, III, a step-daughter, Larisa Teague, both of Batesburg; six grandchildren, Gracie Wallach, Crysta Wallach, Luke Matthews, Bailey Matthews, Allison Mathews, and Dylan Matthews, three step-grandchildren, F.H. Anderson, IV, Matthew Teague, and Emily Oswald and a step-great-granddaughter, Georgia Oswald. 

Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by a sister, Caryon Matthews.

The family will hold a memorial service at the home of Mr. Lynn Matthews on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 2 p.m.
