Margaret Scurry

Margaret Jane Collins Scurry, 95, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Saluda Nursing Center.

Born in Greer, SC, and the daughter of the late Oscar Raymond Collins and Carrie Lou Burnett Collins, she was the wife of the late Frederick Grant "F.G." Scurry, Jr. She had attended Spartanburg Junior College and was a homemaker. Mrs. Scurry was a member of both the Eastern Star and Higgins Grainge, as well as Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church. She had a profound love for playing the piano at church for her church family.

Surviving are a daughter, Janice Preston (Tony) of Fairfield, VA, a son, Grant Scurry (Nancy) of Rock Hill, a daughter-in-law, Debbie Scurry of Saluda, two grandchildren, Sam Scurry (Amanda) of Augusta, GA and Caitlin Scurry Johnston (Graham) of Houston, TX, and two great-grandchildren, Griffin and Grady Johnston.

Mrs. Scurry was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Scurry and a granddaughter, Jennifer Scurry.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church with Rev. Christopher Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
