Obituary

Marion McInnis Blackman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and the sunshine of her family, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, at the age of 76.

Born on August 6, 1950, Marion lived her life with a spunky spirit, a warm heart, and a joy that could brighten any room. She had a way of making people smile and bringing light into even the ordinary moments. To her family, she was so much more than a wife, mother, and grandmother – she was a source of love, laughter, strength, and sunshine.

Marion was the beloved wife of Jerry Blackman and the proud mother of Brett (Andrea) Blackman and Jodi (Timmy) Hoover. She was a loving grandmother to Pedro Folkerts, Thomas Blackman, Kai Hoover, and Eli Hoover, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Marion retired from MCI and was a member of the Women’s Club in Moss Point, Mississippi and Woodmen Life. She had a love for tennis and not only enjoyed playing the sport, but also taught tennis to others. She was talented and creative, finding great enjoyment in teaching quilting and spending time crafting. Whether she was on the tennis court, creating something beautiful with her hands, or simply enjoying time with those she loved, Marion had a way of making every moment special.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Frank McInnis, Jr. and Johanna Verhey McInnis, and two brothers, Neal McInnis and John Frank McInnis, III.

She will be remembered for her spunky personality, her beautiful smile, her generous heart, and the special way she loved her family. She was the kind of person whose presence made life brighter simply because she was there.

Her family will forever treasure the memories of her laughter, her stories, her strength, and all the little moments that made having her as a Wife, Mom, and Grandma such a blessing.

Marion was truly the sunshine in our family, and although that sunshine has gone from our sights, the warmth she gave us will remain in our hearts forever.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the “Dream Team” of Hospice Care of the Piedmont for the compassion, kindness, and exceptional care shown to Marion and her family during this time.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
