Martha Chapman

Martha Nell Wells Chapman, 83, died July 2, 2023, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Haleyville, Alabama and a daughter of the late Raymond Luther Wells and Beulah Beatrice Cavender Wells, she was the wife of William Franklin Chapman. Mrs. Chapman was a homemaker and a member of Saluda Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother.

Surviving is her husband, William Franklin Chapman, two sons, Tim Chapman (Susan) of Little Mountain, SC, Kenneth Chapman (Alice) of Leesville, SC, a daughter, Kim Harmstad (Cliff) of Simpsonville, SC, a sister, Peggy Scharmer of Brandon, MS, a brother, Bobby Wells of Glen Allen, MS, 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by a son, George Allen "Pudge" Chapman, a brother, Billy Wells, and two sisters, Pat Blackwell and Mary LeMay.

Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Saluda Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff McCartney officiating. Interment will follow at Travis Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
