Mary Temple
Mary Alice Deloach Temple, 100, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Saluda Nursing Center.
Losing a mother brings overwhelming grief.
Born September 18, 1925, in Saluda, SC, she was the 8th of 9 children of James and Emma Deloach. She was the wife of the late Jesse L. Temple. Mrs. Mary Alice was a devoted and loving woman whose life was defined by hard work, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to her family. Raised on the family farm, she learned early the value of perseverance and responsibility, lessons that remained with her throughout her life.
She carried that strong work ethic into her years in the textile industry, where later, she found joy in working in daycare, where her kind and nurturing spirit touched the lives of many children and families.
In time, Mrs. Mary Alice made the heartfelt decision to stay at home to care for her great-grandchildren, a role she embraced with deep love and pride. Being a constant presence in their lives brought her immeasurable happiness, and she cherished every moment spent guiding and caring for them. The love for her family knew no bounds, they were truly the center of her world and brought her endless joy.
She found great peace and satisfaction being in the sun and outdoors, especially tending to her yard. Whether planting flowers or simply enjoying the beauty of nature, she was happiest when surrounded by the outdoors she loved.
Thank you, mom, for making us who we are.
Together with her husband, they were blessed with four children, Jesse William Temple, Rev. Jerry Temple, Gail Worrell, and Jan Stone and a sister, Susie Leopard. She was the cherished grandmother of four grandchildren, Jason Rinehart, Jessica White, Tim Worrell, and Geoffrey Temple, and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Jesse L. Temple, two sisters, Sally Johnson and Mattie Spurling, and five brothers, Ottis Deloach, Nathaniel Deloach, Dob Deloach, Henry Bell Deloach, and Clyde Deloach.
