Mary Hyler
Mary Dorcus Horne Hyler, 84, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Hospice House of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.
Born in Greenwood County and the daughter of the late Pierce and Mattie Lee Chaney Horne, she was the wife of the late David Hyler. She was a retired seamstress having worked at Saluda Hosier Mill and attended Friendship Pentecostal Holiness Church and Bethany United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Frances "Fatbaby" Asbill of Saluda, a son-in-law, Brad Alewine of Saluda, two sisters, Sue Padgett of Batesburg and Becky Hodges of Greenwood, one brother, Leonard Horne of Greenwood, and a goddaughter, April Ringer of Saluda.
Mrs. Hyler is preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Bryant, Mattie Bell Asbill and Ruth Dillard, and four brothers, Jimmy Horne, Bobby Horne, Paul Horne and J.P. Horne.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Ramey Funeral Home with Rev. Burton Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646.
