Lib Berry
Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Garrett Berry, 101, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Saluda Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family.
Born in Pickens County, SC, the oldest daughter of the late David William Garrett and Gertrude Parrott Garrett, she was the wife of the late Claude Duane Berry. Mrs. Berry worked as a clerk for Dodd's Dime Store before retirement and was a member of Richland Springs Baptist Church.
Affectionately known as Granny or Aunt Lib to most of the community, she had a true gift for gardening and a passion for her flowers. Her gardening reflected her nurturing spirit and she found joy in sharing it with others. Granny frequently took care of her grandchildren, Novis and Gavin, and enjoyed spoiling them. Many happy memories were made with family and friends gathered around her table. The meals she prepared were more than just food, they were a testament of her love and devotion to her family.
Surviving are a son, Michael Berry (Rosa) of Ward, a sister, Valeria Atchinson of Milledgeville, GA, two grandchildren, Novis Berry Hallman (Clint) of Ward and Gavin Berry (Elizabeth) of Pickens, and two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Courtney Hallman.
Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Garrett and Jim Garrett and a sister, Edith Berry.
Memorials may be made to Saluda Nursing Center Activities Department, P.O. Box 398, Saluda, SC 29138.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 7, 2025, at Richland Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Engle officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the fellowship hall.
