Saluda, SC
Melody Johnette Cockrell, 40, died Friday, December 30, 2016 at Self Regional Medical Center.
A native of Saluda County and a daughter of John Earl "Tookie" Matthews and the late Mae Elizabeth Gunter. Ms. Cockrell was a waitress at Matthews Barbecue.
Surviving are a son, Jamey Z. Cockrell, Jr. of Saluda, two daughters, Cassandra Marie Cockrell and Lillie Eden Cockrell both of Saluda, her father, John Earl "Tookie" Matthews of Saluda, three sisters, Tina Elizabeth Brunson (Todd), Deana Elaine Matthews and Kimberly Beth Smith all of Saluda, four grandchildren, Peyton Leigh Maroney, Cassie Memphyss Lawton, Waylen Evan Witt and Timothy Holden Witt.
A Graveside service will he held 3 p.m., Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Campbell officiating.
A memorial fund has been setup at First Citizens Bank in Saluda, SC.
