Melvin Eugene DeLoach
On May 17, 2024, Melvin Eugene DeLoach was welcomed to his heavenly home and is, today, rejoicing in his reunion with those he loved. Melvin, born July 13, 1944, was the child of Caleb Eugene DeLoach and Ella Louise Chapman DeLoach Adams. He was a life-long resident of Saluda County. Mr. DeLoach was married to the late Colleen Richard DeLoach for 57 years. He and Colleen are the parents of Trish DeLoach Blake (Todd), Melanie DeLoach Oswalt (Lee Jamie) and Phillip Brewer (Vicky Lynn) and Franklin Eugene DeLoach (deceased). He is grandfather to Jacob Lee Oswalt and Sarah Oswalt. Melvin was selfless in his devotion to his family, and his most treasured times were those spent with them. He is the beloved brother of Betty Green (deceased), George DeLoache (Cathy), and Debra DeLoache Bishop (Barron). He is also survived by a brother-in-law Kenneth Richard (Carol). He is uncle and great uncle to many extended family members.
Melvin began a 37 year career at Monsanto Corporation after graduating from high school. His affability, work ethic, and ability soon earned him positions in supervision/management. In his active years, Mr. DeLoach was a lifelong member of Gassaway United Methodist Church and served the church in key roles such as trustee, finance chair, and Sunday school teacher. During his confinement to his home, Melvin had an active prayer life, praying daily for family and friends.
The family is at their respective homes. They wish to thank Dr. Bill Sawyer and the staff at the Saluda Nursing Center for the care they gave to their father during his final days. The family request that memorials be given to ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, a cause that Mr. DeLoach supported throughout his life, or to the charity of one's choice.
