Michael Byerly
Michael Wayne Byerly, 64, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at his special friend, Ron S. Dawkins home.
Born in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Roger Wayne Shaw and Martha June Jones Knowlton Parrish. Michael was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent many years working in robotics at ABB in Greenwood until declining health no longer allowed him to continue the work he enjoyed. Known for his strong work ethic and willingness to help others, he took great pride in everything he did.
A man of deep faith, he faithfully served as a former deacon at Mountain Creek Baptist Church, always striving to live a life that reflected kindness, humanity, and service to others. He had a servant's heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Michael found great joy in landscaping and working outdoors, taking pride in creating and caring for beautiful spaces. Whether tending to a yard or helping a friend, he found satisfaction in making things better for those around him. Above all, he will be remembered as a humble man who loved helping people and quietly made a lasting impact on the lives of many through his generosity, faith, and gentle spirit.
Surviving are his sister, Lisa Thomas (Stan) of Bluffton, a brother, Shane Byerly (Deb) of Waynesboro, three nieces, Nicole Murray (Greg), Hannah Byerly, and Shana Toth (Joe), and special friends, Ron S. Dawkins of Laurens, Clifton Pitts of Laurens, R.C. Raines of Wareshoals, Bobby Parrish of Chappells, Carla Holsonback of Prosperity, Betty Cook of Abbeville, Denise Pitts, of Silverstreet, and Frankie Elgin of Waterloo.
