Michelle Wash Smith

Michelle Wash Smith, beloved wife, daughter, sister, friend, and teacher, was received into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the age of 55 at Lexington County Medical Center.

Michelle was born April 24, 1969, to William R. Wash and Mary Lindley Wash. Michelle was the youngest of 5 children, being four minutes younger than her twin sister, Melinda. She was deeply loved by her family. She married Ben W. Smith, June 26, 1993. The couple spent 32 wonderful years together in Saluda County. Michelle was adored by her husband and he was always by her side.

Michelle was truly loved by all that knew her. She loved the Lord and served in all areas of the church at St. Paul UMC, such as singing in the choir (she loved singing), helping with children's programs, serving the community each month with the food truck, as well as any area that she felt needed a helping hand. She was a devoted teacher at Strom Thurmond Career and Technology Center for 30 years and always gave her best to the students that she loved dearly. The passion she had for her students led her to be an advisor with Future Business Leaders of America. Michelle was an avid Clemson fan and enjoyed attending the games and cheering the Tigers on!

Michelle is survived by husband, Ben, parents, William and Mary Wash, two brothers, Gary Wash (Jan), Barry Wash (Pam), a sister, Karen Boggs (Ron), twin sister, Melinda Taylor (Tim), sister-in-law, Kennifer S. Cox (Tom), numerous nephews and nieces, as well as great nephews and nieces.

Services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Saluda. The family will greet friends before the service in the St. Paul UMC Family Life Center from 1:00 to 2:30. The committal will follow the service at Travis Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church (102 E Butler Ave, Saluda, S.C. 29138).
