Micky Laverne Smith, 63, died Thursday, March 8, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Augusta, GA and a son of the late James Murray Smith, Sr. and Essie Lee Harmon Smith, he was the husband of Barbie Jean Kinard Smith. Mr. Smith was retired from the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism and later he worked with the YMCA in Greenwood. He was a volunteer with the Salvation Army and was a member of Lake Wateree Baptist Church in Ridgeway.

Surviving are his wife, Barbie Jean Kinard Smith, a daughter, Christina Michelle Leopard (Casey) of Greenwood, two brothers, Jimmy Smith (Vera) of Saluda and Pete Smith (Judy) of Greenville, two sisters, Linda Rushton (William) of Johnston and Sandra McDowell (Joe) of Kingsport, TN, his mother in-law, Thelma Mae Prater Kinard of Saluda and three grandchildren, Dakota Walden and Kasey Walden of the home and Kaylee Walden of Greenwood.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel in Saluda with Rev. Rick Hendricks officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
