Mrs. Mildred Mitchell
Mrs. Mildred Bedenbaugh Mitchell, 96,of Saluda, SC, passed away on April 2, 2020 at the Saluda Nursing Center.
Born on April 29,1923, in Saluda, South Carolina, Mrs. Mitchell graduated from Saluda High School in 1940. She worked as a seamstress for the Saluda Shirt Company from 1949 until she retired in 1993. She was also an active and dedicated member of Sardis Baptist Church throughout her life.
In her latter years, she enjoyed spending time with family and traveling with friends. Her family remembers Mrs. Mitchell as a loving mother, a compassionate and doting grandmother, and a woman of great strength and independence who faced life's challenges with faith and grace.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her son, Eugene Willard Mitchell, Jr. of Saluda; her grandchildren, Maren Hill (Robert) of Gallatin, Tennessee; Jan D'Agostino (Daniel) of York; Alicia Fabian (Dean) of Naperville, Illinois; Holly Beeson (Andy) of Lexington; and Travis Wood (Sabrina) of Columbia; and her six great-grandchildren, Gabriel D'Agostino of Boston, Massachusetts; Michael D'Agostino of York; Drew and Luke Beeson of Lexington; Zoe Fabian of Naperville, Illinois; and Victor Wood of Columbia.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Ona Bedenbaugh of Saluda; her husband of forty-four years, Eugene Willard Mitchell, Sr.; her daughter, Barbara Mitchell Palmer of Saluda; her son-in-law, David Palmer of Saluda; her daughter-in-law, Patti Mitchell of Saluda; her sister, Wilma Fowler of Charlotte, North Carolina; her granddaughter, Julie Honeycutt of Columbia; and her grandson, James Mitchell of Columbia.
Reverend Mike Bell will conduct a graveside service for the immediate family. At a future time, a memorial service will be held at Sardis Baptist Church to which all friends and family will be invited.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ralph Riley, his staff, and the staff of the Saluda Nursing Center for their compassionate care as well as many family members and loyal friends for their frequent cards and visits in recent years. Special gratitude goes to dear friend Maureen Cockrell whose devotion has been invaluable.
