Milton Marshe, Jr.
Milton DeQuincey Marshe, Jr., 84, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Shadow Oak Assisted Living in Aiken.
Born in Richland County, and a son of the late Milton DeQuincey Marshe, Sr. and Dorothy Hutto Marshe Wyatt. He married the love of his life, Clara Gayle Hipp Marshe, in 1970, and together they shared 55 years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and countless cherished memories.
Mr. Marshe proudly served his country in the South Carolina Air National Guard at McEntire Joint National Guard Base. During his time of service, he and his team were deployed to Spain during the tense days of the Cuban Missile Crisis. While serving, he worked on military aircraft including the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter and the LTV A-7 Corsair II, developing a lifelong appreciation for airplanes and aviation. His time in the military also sparked another interest; firearms, which later grew into a hobby of collecting guns.
Following his military service, he pursued education at the University of South Carolina and later attended Midlands Technical College. He went on to build a long and dedicated career as a computer programmer with the South Carolina Department of Administration, where he worked until his retirement in 1998.
Mr. Marshe was a man of the Christian faith who lived with humility and quiet strength. In his free time, he enjoyed collecting firearms, learning about airplanes, and spending time with the many dogs he loved throughout his life. His love for dogs and aviation brought him great joy and were passions he carried with him for many years.
Surviving alongside his wife of 55 years are a son, Andrew Marshe of Saluda.
Mr. Marshe was preceded in death by a brother, Don Heyward Marshe and longtime friend, Rev. Forrest DeFate Sanders.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Deal officiating. Interment will follow at Travis Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
