Legare Gunter, III

Murray Legare Gunter, III, 82, died Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Agape House of Lexington.

Born in Saluda County and a son of the late Murray Legare Gunter, Jr. and Lillie Merchant Gunter, he was the husband of Joyce McGee Gunter. Mr. Gunter was a retired computer programmer with the South Carolina Employment Security Commission and was a member of First Baptist Church in West Columbia.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce McGee Gunter, a son, Murray Legare "Lee" Gunter, IV (Sharon) of North Augusta, a daughter, Malinda Gunter Justice (Mike) of Lexington, a brother, Rev. Rodney Gunter (Dell) of Newberry, stepchildren, Tracy Cummings (Toby) of Merritt Island, FL and Virginia "Jenny" Yarborough of Columbia, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gunter was preceded in death by his first wife, Melanie Scurry Gunter and a daughter, Allison Gunter Cunningham.

A graveside service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Travis Park Cemetery with Rev. Rodney Gunter officiating.
