Ninety Six, SC

Richard Merrell Harris, 87, died Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Saluda Nursing Center.

Born in Aiken County and a son of the late Charlie Frank and Anna Sanford Harris, he was the husband of the late Virginia McCullough Harris. Mr. Harris was a US Army veteran and served with the Medical Corp. He was a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and was a member of the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. He retired as a Pharmacist with Cambridge Drug Company and he was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ninety Six.

Surviving are a son, Steven B. Harris of Poquoson, VA, a granddaughter, Anna Marie Connelly of Saluda and a brother, Gerald H. Harris (Jane) of Batesburg.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by a daughter, Katie Elaine Connelly and two brothers, Eland F. Harris and Bobby Joe Harris.

A Graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, April 13, 2018 at Nazareth United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Valerie Mireb officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
