Ronald Armstrong
Ronald "Ron" Hugh Armstrong, 84, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born in Portland, Maine, and the son of the late Harry Chris Armstrong and Gladys Pluma Reimer Armstrong, he was the husband of the late Frances Rushton Armstrong. Mr. Ronald proudly served his country for a total of 30 years; three years in the United States Navy, followed by 27 dedicated years in the United States Coast Guard. His commitment to service reflected his strong sense of duty, discipline, and devotion to others.
After retiring as Chief Warrant Officer 4 from the Coast Guard, he enjoyed a well-earned life filled with the things he loved most. An avid outdoorsman, he found peace and joy in hunting and fishing, and he took great pride in caring for his yard always keeping it beautiful and well-tended. Whether he was casting a line, working outside, or simply spending time with family and friends, he brought warmth and laughter to every moment.
Mr. Ronald was well loved by all who knew him. His kindness, sense of humor, and steady presence touched countless lives. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have shared in his journey.
Surviving are a son, Noel P. Armstrong of Lake Elsinore, CA, a stepson, Michael Singleton (Tracey) of Clemson, two grandchildren, Christopher Mapp, Jr. (Susan) and Stacey Singleton (Kyle Dauberman), and a great grandchild, Turner Mapp.
Mr. Ronald is preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Susan Turner Chapman.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Red Bank Baptist Church Cemetery.
