Funeral services for Samuel Francis "Bull" Chapman, 80, will be held Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11am, at Saluda Baptist Church with burial following at Travis Park Cemetery. Ramey Funeral Home is in charge. The family will receive friends, Sunday, March 23, 2014, from 6 pm until 8 pm at Ramey Funeral Home.

Born in Saluda County, he was the son of the late Moses and Eva Cockrell Chapman. He was a member of Saluda Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was also a Gideon and taught Sunday School at the nursing home for many years.

He was a DIEHARD Clemson Tiger Fan and a GREAT fisherman, some argue one of the best in the state. He loved fishing with his three children, Linda, Steve and John, grandsons Chad and Sam, and he loved fishing with friends, Wyman Shealy, Tom Rankin and Frank Prewitt.

Senior Master Sergeant Chapman began his military career on November 5, 1951 when he enlisted in the SC Army National Guard and served until his discharge on January 12, 1953. He enlisted in the US Air Force on January 24, 1953 and served on extended active duty until his release on September 2, 1966. He enlisted in the SC Air National Guard on December 14, 1968 and served until his retirement on January 20, 1989.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 60 years, Virginia Oswalt Chapman, daughter, Linda Chapman of Saluda, son, Steve Chapman (Lynn) of Evans, GA, son, John Chapman (Carla) of Saluda, grandchildren Alicia Burnett Rorke of Lexington, Chad Burnett of Saluda, John Samuel "Sam" Perry of Chesapeake, VA, Patsy Everett Macghee of Greenwood, Wayne Everett of Wilmington, NC and 9 great-grandchildren.
