Sandra Kaye Fulmer
Sandra Kaye Beam Fulmer, died April 20, 2017 at Lexington Medical Center with her family by her side. Sandra Kaye was born in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Mabel Edwards Kerby and the late Granville Leroy Beam on December 19, 1942. At age 12, her "Daddy" John F. Kerby entered her life.
She attended nurses training in the early 1960's at Columbia Hospital.
Her career as a dental assistant spanned almost 30 years working for Dr. Wyman L. Shealy, DMD. She was best known to her patients as the lady who comforted and patted hands through their dental experiences.
She loved her family and her friends and most importantly her Lord. That was obvious through her service to others and hobbies. Sandra was an active member of Emory United Methodist Church where she cherished her church serving in many capacities from Sunday School teacher, MYF leader, Chair of the PPRC and member of the UM Women. She was an avid reader and loved serving with the Friends of Library. She was one of the first to offer free books to others in her front yard. As a founding member of the Saluda Red Hat Society, she loved to entertain friends while teaching them the art and finery of drinking hot tea. Some of her most fond times were having tea while on a girlfriend trip to Charleston and her "Paula Deen" suppers. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, as well as a frequent "volunteer" visitor at the nursing home.
Above all was her love for the Lord and her family. She was a devoted wife of 54 years, a precious mama, Mimi and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, John F. Kerby and her precious aunts / 2nd moms, Frankie E. Winn and Mary Ruth "Dolly" Rinehart.
Surviving are: Her faithful husband and high school sweetheart, Wayne Fulmer, her daughter, Angie Rita (Randy), her grandson, Zac Rita (who hung the moon for her), her brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Melvia Kerby, her niece English Kerby Usry and nephew, Caleb Kerby and her two great nieces, Layla and Kaisley. She also leaves behind many precious friends and family, especially her sweet Lisa and Margaret Ann, as well as her special four legged "Buddy".
There will be a memorial service to celebrate the life of Sandra Kaye on Sunday, April 23rd at 4:00 PM at Emory United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 3:00 in the church social hall.
