Sara Smith Crawford

Sara Nell Smith Crawford, 89, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Residences at Greenwood.

Born in Saluda County and a daughter of the late Patrick Eugene Smith and Sudie Mae Rice Smith, she was the wife of the late Robert "Bob' Crawford. Mrs. Crawford retired from the South Carolina Forestry Commission and was a devoted member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

She found great joy in the time she spent with her beloved horses. They were more than a hobby; they were a true passion that brought her peace and happiness. Above all, Mrs. Crawford treasured her family and cherished every moment together. One of her greatest delights was the tradition of in-room picnics, where laughter, stories, and love filled the space. Those gatherings became treasured memories that will forever be held close by those who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her son, Robert Blane Crawford (Nancy) of Sebastian, FL, three grandchildren, Catherine Carlie Crawford, Sara Ellyn Basknight (Tommy) and Joshua Blane Crawford (Janice), seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Lynn Crawford, a brother, Virgil D. Smith and five sisters, Willette Smith, Lula Mae Jester, Doris Jay, Vinetta Nicholson and Jessie Werts

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Going officiating. Interment will follow at Mayson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
