Shirley Derrick Gibson, 73, died Sunday, June 18. 2017 at her home in Saluda.

Born in Leesville, SC and a daughter of the late Simon Henry Derrick and Lula Jeanette Smith Derrick, she was the wife of John Gibson. She retired from the DOT after 30 years of service. Shirley loved shopping, working in her yard and cooking cubed steak and rice and gravy. She was a faithful wife of 54 years and loved her grandchildren. She was an extremely supportive mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her husband, John Gibson; a daughter, Renee Abrams (Scott) of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Thomas Cade, Meredith Bryce and Spencer Victoria Abrams of Greenwood; her mother, Lula S Derrick of Leesville; one sister, Betty Jean Parker (David) of Batesburg; one brother, Harold Wayne "Butch" Derrick and her beloved tom cat "Tom" and dog "Roscoe.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 til 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 20 at Bethany United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 20th at 11:00 AM at Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
