Obituary

After a long illness, Ted Perry Caldwell, 79, of Saluda, son of the late Hobson and Phoebe Perry Caldwell, passed away at Lexington Medical Center on Thursday, June 22, 2017. A funeral service will be held at Red Bank Baptist Church on Sunday, June 25 at 3:00 p.m. The Rev. Paul Holcomb will officiate. Burial will follow in Travis Park Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gloria and by his two children Patrick Caldwell of Pendleton and Laura Caldwell of West Columbia, by his much-loved grandsons Will and Caleb Caldwell, and by two sisters Sudie Berry of Saluda and Joyce Harling of Edgefield.
He was preceded in death by sisters Elizabeth Forrest, Ozie Krell and Willard Bickley and by brothers Hubert Caldwell and George Heyward Caldwell.
After more than twenty years of working in power services, he retired from Carolina Eastman in Columbia. In his younger days he was in the South Carolina National Guard in Saluda. Many in the Hollywood Community of Saluda will remember him for his skills on the basketball court and baseball diamond during his high school days there. After retirement, as long as his health allowed, he and his wife enjoyed camping with friends. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church.
Visitation will be at Ramey Funeral Home on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 6:00p.m until 8:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church or to the Saluda County Historical Society. The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and personnel at Lexington Medical Center for their kind care and Lisa Berry and Allyson Martin for their unfailing help while he was at home.
