Thomas Johnnie Adams

Thomas Johnnie Adams, 83, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Edgefield County and a son of the late Walter Byron Adams and Sara Ione Kitchins Adams, he was husband of Virginia Faye Garland Adams. Mr. Adams was retired from Harris Plant in Greenwood and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

A true "Jack of all trades", Mr. Adams had an unparallelled ability to fix, create, and build anything that came his way. Whether it was working on cars, repairing household items, or tackling any task. He had a deep passion for collecting antique bottles. This hobby brought him great joy and he could be found searching for new treasures to add to his prize collection. Mr. Adams cherished the art of hunting and enjoyed spending time in the woods, where the quiet solitude and thrill of the hunt brought him peace. Most of all he was known in the community as the Wine Man.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 57 years, are two sons, Rex Adams (Tamara) of Dunlap, TN and Jessie Adams of Ninety-Six, three daughters, Heather Adams of Ninety-Six, Lynn McCormick (Steve) and Theresa Crepes (Dean) both of Leesville, three brothers, Clyde Adams (Pat), Cecil Adams (Patty) both of Ninety-Six and John Adams (Dax) of Atlanta, five sisters, Fannie Mae Turner, Opheia Dunn both of Ninety-Six, Lindy Busby (Buz) of Silverstreet, Melma Hawkins (Wayne) of Ninety-Six and Alice Davis (Wayne) of Chappells, fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Mr. Adams was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah A. Fox and two brothers, Walter Byron Adams, Jr. and Hosey Laverne Adams.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Going officiating.
