Truman Ernest Trotter, 92, died Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Saluda Nursing Center.

Born in Saluda County and a son of the late Ernest B. and Leona Rodgers Trotter, he was the husband of the late Arzelle Dorn Trotter. Mr. Trotter was a US Army veteran of WWII and was a barber and owner of Saluda Barber Shop. He was a former Saluda Town Councilman, a member of the Saluda Civitan Club and American Legion Post 65 and he was a charter member of Saluda Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne T. Thomas (Charles R.) of Statesville, NC, two brothers, Heyward R. Trotter of Saluda and Ansel B. Trotter (Mary Lynn) of Batesburg, a sister, Doris T. Platts of Ridge Spring, two grandsons, Russell Thomas and Nolan Thomas (Macey), a granddaughter, Beth Anne Bailey (Rob) and two great-grandchildren, Noah Bailey and Maddox Bailey.

Mr. Trotter was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Eugene Trotter, a brother, Billy Trotter and two sisters, Ethel T. Banks and Winifred T. Reames.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to a special caregiver, Birdell D. Perry for her care and support for Mr. Trotter over the past several years and to Saluda Nursing Center and Dr. Bill Sawyer.

The funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Saluda Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow in West Travis Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
