Saluda, SC

Verdelia Witt King, 94, died Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Saluda Nursing Center.

Born in Saluda County and a daughter of the late John Martin and Eula Burnice Cockrell Witt, she was the wife of the late James Graham King. Mrs. King was an Esthetician and was a homemaker. She attended Good Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving are four grandchildren, James Walter King of Hubert, NC, Asami Martin of Wilmington, NC, Patsy D. Hicks of Land O'lakes, FL and Meg King Hendrix of Myrtle Beach, SC, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Reba W. Wright (Ronnie) of Belvedere and Rachel W. Bentley (Howard) of Trenton and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. King was preceded in death by a son, Graham Ronald King, five brothers, John Calvin Witt, William Lee Witt, Grady Lee Witt, Marion Witt and Everett Bernice Witt and four sisters, Emmie Sue Dodgen, Grace W. Ouzts, Ethel W. McDowell and Mae W. Huggins.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Beauford and Rev. Bob Higgins officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
