Vernell Cogdill Riser, 81, passed away Friday, September 3, 2021 at Saluda Nursing Center.

Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Magnolia Arnold Cogdill. Mrs. Riser was a waitress for many years and attended Hopewell Congregational Holiness Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Jean Cockrell (Buddy) of Saluda, seven grandchildren, Tabitha Collins, Kimberly King, Frankie King, Austin Riser, Danielle Floyd, Brandy Cockrell and Cody Cockrell, 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ruby Corley and Margaret McDonald (Mark), both of Ninety-Six, and two brothers, John Cogdill and Clarence Cogdill, both of Greenwood.

Mrs. Riser is preceded in death by a son, Ricky Riser, and a brother, Butch Cogdill.

A funeral service will be held at 12 PM, Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Hopewell Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Buddy Cockrell and Rev. Yvonne Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church.
