Virginia Blease

Virginia Corley Blease, 81, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025. Born October 15, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Virgil R. and Helen O. Corley. A graduate of Saluda High School, she earned a degree in English at Newberry College and a Master of Education from the University of South Carolina.

She was a teacher and administrator at Lower Richland High School, where she was principal for eight years. She also served as interim principal of A.C. Flora and Dreher High Schools and retired from Richland County School District One as Executive Director for High School Services. During her career she was president of the South Carolina Association of Secondary School Principals and was named "Outstanding Educator from South Carolina" in 1986.

An active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Columbia for 40 years, she served as Sunday School teacher and church treasurer and volunteered as church secretary. After moving back to Saluda, she became active in Saluda Baptist Church.

She enjoyed retiring to a home on a lake in Saluda County where she took pleasure in having family and friends visit for swimming and boating. She dearly loved her sons and daughter and their families and took pride in watching them mature into responsible, caring, Christian adults.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Tom Blease; sons, Brian Blease and his wife Stevi of Columbia and David Blease and his wife Ginny of Charleston; daughter, Melanie Moorer of Saugatuck, Michigan; and grandchildren, Samantha Floore and her husband Chad of Charleston, Danielle Blease of Charleston, Bradley and Elizabeth Moorer of Saugatuck, Michigan, and Caleb, Christian, and Addison Blease of Charleston. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Gentry of Saluda, and nephews.

Mrs. Blease was preceded in death by her son in law, Brad Moorer.

A celebration of the life of Virginia Blease will be held at Saluda Baptist Church, 112 West Wheeler Circle, Saluda, SC 29138 on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
